Требования
- A demonstrable record of running monthly, quarterly and annual closes to deadline, including review of journals, accruals, provisions, balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany balances, backed by a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ICAG, CPA, ACA or equivalent).
- Proven working knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 9 and IFRS 15, applied to preparing management accounts and financial statements, together with hands-on experience supporting internal and external audits, including PBC lists and audit queries.
- Extensive progressive experience in a supervisory accounting role, with strong Excel and ERP skills and a track record of owning statutory reporting and tax compliance, including VAT, withholding tax and payroll tax reconciliations.
- Beyond the technical, you're meticulous, you communicate clearly in writing and in conversation, and you'd rather fix a broken process than work around it. If you've come from fintech, consumer finance, telecoms or another regulated environment, or have handled multi-entity consolidation, you'll recognise the terrain quickly. It helps, but it isn't a gate.
Другое
- You're good at this. Your closes land on time, your reconciliations hold up under audit, and your team trusts your judgement. You're probably happy where you are. But when did you last sign off a set of accounts knowing that behind every line sat a real person: a first-time smartphone owner, a trader who started earning, a household that got light after dark?
- At , the financial statements are not an abstraction. We serve over 7 million customers and have unlocked $2+ billion in credit . 55% of our customers are accessing formal financial services for the first time, 70% use our products to generate income, and 86% report an improved quality of life. Those figures only mean something if the numbers underneath them are right, and in Ghana, the person who makes sure of that is the Senior Finance Controller.
- If you've noticed us hiring across the business, that's deliberate. We grew from 5 million customers to 7 million, and we're building towards 10 million. Today that means 2,300+ employees , 35,000 agents , $45 million in taxes contributed, 2 million smartphones assembled in Kenya, and 4,000+ e-motorbikes financed, saving riders $5.62 a day .
- Growth at that pace puts real weight on a finance function: more products, more entities, more regulatory surface, more audit scrutiny. We aren't adding people for the sake of it. We're building the close discipline and control environment that a 10-million-customer business needs, and we're doing it now rather than after something breaks.
- Most controller roles ask you to protect a stable ledger. This one asks you to build rigour for a ledger that grows more complex every quarter. You'll account for a consumer credit book with expected credit losses under IFRS 9, revenue under IFRS 15, inventory, fixed assets and leases, and mobile money flows that rarely feature in traditional corporate finance.
- You'll own the close in Ghana, work directly alongside the Senior Finance Manager, and have a genuine say in how our ERP, planning and reporting tools evolve. You'll also work with a team that's growing alongside the business, which means your judgement on who to coach, what to standardise and what to automate carries real weight. Process improvement here isn't a side project. It's part of the job, and the people who do it well shape how finance runs across the business.
- Running the close and the numbers that come out of it: reviewing journals, accruals, provisions and reconciliations, and turning them into management accounts and financial statements in line with IFRS and group policy.
- Keeping the control environment honest: documenting controls, chasing down gaps until they're closed, applying accounting policy consistently, and meeting auditors with answers rather than excuses.
- Coaching the accounting team while keeping statutory filings, tax accounts, and bank and mobile money reconciliations accurate and on time.
- Success here is measured simply: closes delivered on time with few post-close adjustments, reconciliations reviewed when they should be, audit and control findings closed on schedule, and filings that are right the first time.
- This role is demanding. Close deadlines don't move, audit queries arrive on their own schedule, and a business growing this quickly won't pause while you reconcile. You'll be holding a team to a high standard of accuracy while also pushing process change, and sometimes both in the same week as a year-end close. The reward is a seat close to the work that matters, with finance treated as a function that shapes decisions rather than one that records them. And you're probably ready for exactly this.
- If you're reading this and thinking that your next chapter should be one where the accounts carry weight beyond the audit opinion, that's probably the signal to explore it. Ready to build the finance discipline behind 10 million customers? Let's talk.
