Engineering Manager role at estaie Holdings Ltd, a company building global infrastructure for extended stays, leading a Forward Deployed Engineering team focused on integrations and AI. Remote work with relocation support to Dubai or Riyadh after one year.
About the company
- estaie is the first global infrastructure for extended stays of 15 to 365 days.
- We connect hotels, holiday homes, channel managers, PMSs, payment providers and other travel systems through intelligent inventory, pricing, search and distribution infrastructure.
- We operate globally, with hubs in Dubai and Riyadh.
- Our AI layer powers dynamic pricing, agentic lead generation, smart inventory orchestration and autonomous operations, for operators, corporate bookers and digital nomads alike.
About the product
- The role involves building and leading the Forward Deployed Engineering team that connects estaie to the hospitality ecosystem and manages production integrations.
- The team owns what it ships and the quality bar it holds.
- The Engineering Manager also contributes hands-on to integration and AI work, participates in code reviews, debugging, and leads by example.
- Partners directly with the CTO on architecture and technical strategy, and collaborates with product, sales and partnerships on priorities and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the FDE team: hire, onboard and grow a remote team of Forward Deployed Engineers, setting expectations for ownership, quality and pace.
- Run delivery across many partner integrations simultaneously: prioritise, unblock, and keep partner commitments realistic.
- Coach engineers on integration design, debugging across systems, clean code and working directly with partners.
- Run 1:1s, provide direct feedback and build a culture of accountability, async collaboration and written decisions.
- Stay hands-on: write production code in TypeScript, Python and SQL, own some integrations end to end.
- Review PRs and set engineering standards for testing, observability and documentation.
- Join difficult partner debugging sessions and production incidents, leading post-mortems.
- Design integration platform patterns: authentication (OAuth 2.0 token refresh), signed webhooks, retries with backoff, rate limiting, idempotency and error handling.
- Own the canonical data model normalizing inventory, rates and availability from partners.
- Ensure no overselling via concurrency control on inventory, handling out-of-order and late events, and reconciliation jobs.
- Build shared tooling to speed integration onboarding: mock partner servers, contract tests, onboarding tools, dead-letter queues with replay.
- Lead use of LLMs and agents across integration workflows, including mapping partner data, operational copilots and automation.
- Set AI guardrails: structured output with schema validation, human review for low-confidence, eval sets as CI gates, least-privilege tool access.
- Manage AI cost and latency with queues, rate limiters, caching and model routing.
- Own uptime, security and performance of integration layer across regions and environments.
- Act as senior technical contact for key partners, channel managers, PMSs and payment providers.
- Feed field learnings back into product and platform priorities.
Requirements
- 8 to 12 years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading engineers in a high-growth startup, SaaS or platform company.
- Strong hands-on skills in TypeScript (Node.js / NestJS, React / Next.js), SQL and PostgreSQL, and working Python experience.
- Proven experience building and running third-party integrations in production: webhooks with signature checks, idempotency, retries, rate limits, and data sync or reconciliation.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems: transactions and concurrency, queues and event-driven design, out-of-order events, fault tolerance.
- Production experience with LLMs, including evaluation, constraint, and cost management.
- Cloud deployment experience with Docker and CI/CD, ideally on GCP.
- Experience leading a remote, distributed team with async, written culture.
- Comfortable running technical calls with external engineering teams and converting them into plans.
- Strong bias for action: debugging, documenting, automating and measuring, caring about products that work rather than just running systems.
Nice to have
- Hospitality, travel, fintech, marketplace or other integration-heavy background.
- Hands-on experience with channel managers, PMSs, OTAs, reservation systems or payment gateways.
- Experience building or leading forward deployed, solutions or integrations engineering teams.
- Knowledge of Kafka / Redpanda, OpenSearch / Elasticsearch, pgvector, Terraform.
- Experience in GCC markets and Arabic language skills.
Conditions
- Fully remote work with MENA time zone alignment required.
- After one year, estaie relocates the right candidate to Dubai or Riyadh.
- Full-time, exclusive position.
- Role split roughly 50% people and delivery leadership, 50% hands-on engineering work.
