About the product
- The Infrastructure Engineering Organization at Netflix has teams focusing on modernization, resilience & reliability tooling, internal application interface development, improving the technical health of systems, and metrics collection to improve developer productivity.
- Currently hiring for teams in the Engineering Operations Tooling area and the Health Integrity of the Paved Road (HIPR) team.
- Availability Tooling builds and owns tools for change automation and availability tooling ensuring high availability and resiliency of Netflix's infrastructure fleet.
- Knowledge Platform integrates technical documentation and developer support solutions including GenAI-powered platforms for documentation and support.
- The HIPR team enables Netflix engineers to maintain best practices on the Paved Road by defining, measuring, and surfacing health primitives, injecting context for code generation and decisions, and continuous improvement of the toolchain.
Responsibilities
- Write software that assists other engineers in their software development processes.
- Develop applications using Java, Python and other programming languages.
- Scale services and applications to efficiently handle hundreds of users and thousands of requests per minute.
- Engage with customers and product managers to ensure the delivery of necessary tools and features.
- Write design documents and drive changes across teams and organizations.
- Ensure the reliability and success of productivity tools.
- Work across different layers of the stack, focusing expertise on one layer while maintaining familiarity with others.
- Choose storage solutions and design data models for relational and non-relational datasets.
- Write queries and reports to power analytics and dashboards for customer teams and organizations.
Requirements
- Experienced software engineer preferably with developer platform or productivity team background, proficient in back-end development mainly Java or Python.
- Meticulous software designer who documents technical tradeoffs clearly and concisely.
- Capable of managing projects independently from design to production.
- Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Passionate about writing tests for code with experience solving testing and reliability challenges in complex domains.
- Problem-solver using data to make quantitative decisions and finding creative solutions to noisy system signals.
- Collaborative, working closely with customer and partner teams to execute software change campaigns effectively.
- Advocate for developer productivity through tooling investments for discovery, learning and support.
