Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a squad of 4–5 engineers with a balance of hands-on technical leadership and people management.
- Partner with Product Managers, Staff Engineers, and technical leaders to define roadmap and deliver squad OKRs.
- Define and steer technical direction, balancing speed, quality, scalability, and maintainability.
- Provide clarity, unblock progress, and establish sustainable delivery ways.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, give feedback, support development, performance conversations, and growth planning.
- Contribute hands-on to Ruby on Rails monolith using automated testing, observability, A/B testing, and feature flags.
- Collaborate across Engineering, Product, Design, and Data teams to deliver impactful features.
Requirements
- Solid experience with Ruby on Rails, building data models, APIs, and business logic in a production monolith.
- Experience leading technical delivery within a product squad or engineering team through delivery.
- Experience in line management and coaching engineers including feedback and performance conversations.
- Strong technical judgement balancing delivery speed, quality, scalability, and long-term investment.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and practices such as automated testing, observability, A/B testing, and feature flags.
- Collaborative approach working well with Product, Design, Analytics, and Engineering partners.
- Proven track record of helping teams build healthy habits, improve work methods, and deliver outcomes.
- Alignment with company values and engineering principles.
