Lead development of internal tools for deploying and supporting AI camera fleets in manufacturing quality control.
О компании
- .ai is transforming manufacturing quality control with an advanced edge AI vision system that combines cutting-edge deep learning with ease of use and quick setup. Our system handles a wide array of inspection tasks, from subtle assembly verification to defect detection and orientation checks, delivering real-time, high-accuracy inspections that integrate directly into existing production lines.
- Trusted by leading manufacturers like Ford, Honda, Toyota, SpaceX, Milliken and Flex-N-Gate, our cameras enable faster throughput, reduced scrap and lower inspection costs, without the complexity and expense of traditional vision systems.
- Founded by Silicon Valley engineers and former Tesla leaders, we are a profitable, fast-growing company with teams in the US, China, Taiwan, Vietnam and Europe.
Обязанности
- Our customers are moving from a handful of cameras per plant to fleets of hundreds, and our largest accounts are on the path to thousands of OV cameras across factories in China, Vietnam, Europe and the Americas. Deploying, updating, monitoring and supporting cameras at that scale needs real products, not scripts and shared drives.
- We are looking for a Senior Lead Full Stack Python Engineer to lead our Internal Tools team and own the products that make deploying thousands of AI cameras globally repeatable and reliable. You will take over OV Pro Tools, a suite of services that already runs in customer plants today: OV Vault (data storage), OV Fleet (fleet monitoring), OV Train (GPU-accelerated training) and OV Hub (Git-based recipe versioning and sharing). Your job is to turn these into one coherent platform, decide what gets built next and ship it.
- This is a hands-on lead role. You will spend most of your time building, from React and TypeScript interfaces down to the Python services behind them, while leading a small team (one engineer today, more as we deploy more systems around the world) and setting the technical direction. You will also work on the frontier: LLM-powered assistants and agent builders that sit on top of our vision system.
- About half your time will be spent in China, in the factories where our cameras run at scale (Nantong, Haiyan, Shenzhen and others), deploying, supporting and learning from the people who use the tools every day. The rest is product development from our Taipei base, working closely with the R&D team there.
- You will operate with high autonomy: you pick the approach, ship quickly and iterate with real users.
- Lead the Internal Tools team. Set the roadmap, priorities and engineering standards for the team. Mentor and grow the engineers on it, run planning and reviews, and hire as the scope grows. Stay hands-on: you ship code every week.
- Build the fleet deployment platform. Own the products that let us and our customers deploy, configure, update and monitor thousands of cameras across many sites: device management, recipe versioning and distribution, staged and canary updates with rollback, fleet health monitoring and alerting, telemetry and log tooling.
- Own the OV Pro Tools suite end to end. Scale OV Vault, OV Fleet, OV Train and OV Hub from working v1 services into a reliable, modular platform that can be deployed independently or as a suite, including in air-gapped factory networks with no internet access.
- Build GenAI applications. Design and ship LLM-powered tools that make monitoring and deploying large fleets of cameras easier.
- Full-stack web tools. Own tools end to end, from React/TypeScript frontends to Python backends, APIs and MCP servers.
- Integrate with the edge-AI stack. Connect the tools to the camera fleet, inference outputs, recipes and firmware so they work against real inspection data, not toy examples.
- 0 to 1 product building. Prototype quickly, get tools in front of users, and iterate. Turn rough ideas into shipped products, then sharpen them based on real usage.
- Deploy and support in the field. Travel to customer factories in China for installations, upgrades and critical support. Train customer teams, troubleshoot integrations with existing factory systems, and bring what you learn back into the product.
- Quality and craft. Sweat performance, reliability and UX. These tools are how customers and colleagues experience ; they should feel fast, clear and trustworthy. Code quality needs to be pristine: we use agents to write code, but you understand and own the final design and solution.
Требования
- 7+ years building full-stack web applications, with a proven track record of shipping products end to end at a Senior, Staff or Lead level.
- Experience leading engineers, formally or as a tech lead: setting direction, reviewing work, growing people, while staying hands-on.
- Expert-level Python for backend services, APIs and data/tooling work (FastAPI, Django or Flask).
- Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript for building modern, polished web interfaces.
- Experience designing and running distributed or fleet-scale systems: device management, over-the-air or staged updates, monitoring and alerting, offline-first or air-gapped deployments.
- Experience building LLM-powered or GenAI product features (LLM APIs, prompt engineering, MCP, agent workflows), or a strong passion and demonstrated aptitude for it.
- Professional experience using AI agent tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot and similar) to architect solutions and solve difficult problems efficiently.
- Solid Docker, Git, CI/CD and cloud deployment experience.
- A product mindset: you care about the user, make good judgment calls under ambiguity, and can drive a tool from idea to shipped without a detailed spec.
- Fluent English and fluent Mandarin, both written and spoken. English is needed for R&D collaboration and documentation, Mandarin for customers and the China team.
- Comfortable with about 50% travel to China, including extended stays at customer sites.
Будет плюсом
- Hands-on experience with big data infrastructure, vector databases or agent-orchestration frameworks.
- Familiarity with computer vision, manufacturing or industrial automation, including factory protocols (OPC UA, Modbus) and MES/ERP integration.
- Time-series databases; S3-compatible or NAS storage.
- GPU computing or ML operations background (CUDA, TensorRT).
- Previous 0-to-1 product development or founding engineer experience.
Условия
- Competitive package for the Taiwan market: base salary, performance bonus and equity in .ai .
- Travel outside Taipei fully covered.
- Comprehensive health insurance and benefits, equipment budget.
- Relocation support within Taiwan for the right candidate.
Другое
- You come in as a senior builder and a leader, not a ticket-taker. You define the tools, pick the stack and decide how they get built. We hire smart people and get out of their way.
- The products you build will run thousands of cameras across some of the largest manufacturers in the world, and you will see them used on the factory floor.
- GenAI is core to what we're building, not a bolt-on. You will ship real LLM-powered products to real manufacturers.
- We don't just build AI; we use it. If you can lean on an AI agent to automate the grunt work, we'll high-five you, not ask why you aren't typing. We measure leverage, not hours.
- Join a fast-growing, fast-moving and profitable startup, lead a team from day one, and grow into a broader platform or engineering leadership role as the fleet scales.
