Responsibilities
- Own one of our core platform areas end-to-end: observability (VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, Graylog / VictoriaLogs, fluent bit, exporters, alerting) or CI/CD (Jenkins scripted pipelines, Harbor, Nexus, build agents) — drive architecture, reliability, and roadmap.
- Drive technical initiatives end-to-end: gather requirements, write design docs, decompose tasks, implement, deliver to production, and own operational health.
- Define requirements, assumptions, and next steps in ambiguous situations.
- Design for reliability and scale: evolve platform architecture including topology, integration points, scaling approach, and reliability model.
- Support developers by deploying and monitoring applications on on-premise servers and Kubernetes (Helm), troubleshoot builds and deploys, assist with metrics, alerts, logs; participate in chat duty.
- Automate repetitive operations, provisioning, and maintenance.
- Investigate production incidents as senior escalation: drive resolution, lead post-mortems, implement systemic fixes; participate in on-call rotations.
- Mentor less experienced engineers via design discussions, reviews, pairing; catch debt-inducing shortcuts at review stage.
- Use AI in all aspects of work: research, troubleshoot, develop.
Requirements
- 6+ years as a DevOps Engineer / SRE or similar responsibilities.
- Proven experience owning technical initiatives end-to-end from technical design through production delivery.
- Confident Linux skills (Ubuntu).
- Working knowledge of Prometheus stack including metrics, exporters, and alerting.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline design, build orchestration, artifact delivery.
- Experience with Docker, image building, and registries.
- Experience with Ansible and Git.
- Scripting experience in Bash or Python for automation and observability.
- Production/on-call experience: diagnosing incidents, restoring service, leading post-mortems.
- Experience mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Strong ownership and attention to detail due to costly downtime.
Nice to have
- Solid hands-on experience in two or more areas: VictoriaMetrics / Prometheus stack at scale, log pipelines at scale (Graylog / VictoriaLogs / ELK), Jenkins scripted pipelines, container registries and artifact management (Harbor, Nexus), Kubernetes operations (Helm), Grafana (dashboards as code, alerting).
- Experience with analytics & data science platforms (JupyterHub, Airflow, Tableau, MLflow, Airbyte).
- Experience with remote development and AI agent environments (Coder/Telepresence).
- Experience with bare-metal Kubernetes provisioning, networking, scaling.
- Experience with Flux and GitOps.
- Experience with Terraform.
- Experience operating Sentry on-premise error tracking.
- Experience with ClickHouse and MongoDB.
