About the company
- Founding group is launching a new fully regulated, Sharia-compliant Islamic bank in Uzbekistan a rare greenfield opportunity in one of Central Asia’s fastest-growing markets.
Responsibilities
- Lead the bank from pre-licensing through commercial launch and growth.
- Set strategy, secure regulatory approvals, build the executive team, develop Sharia-compliant products, ensure AAOIFI/local compliance, raise capital, and drive sustainable commercial performance.
Requirements
- 15+ years in banking/financial services, including 7–10 years in senior leadership (CEO/Deputy CEO/CRO/CFO or equivalent)
- Proven greenfield, transformation, or scaling experience
- Strong Islamic banking & Sharia compliance knowledge (Sharia Supervisory Board experience a plus)
- Familiarity with Central Bank of Uzbekistan or comparable emerging-market regulation
- Track record in capital raising, licensing, and building institutions from scratch
- Commercial success in retail/SME/corporate banking
- Fluent English; Russian and/or Uzbek a strong advantage
- Master’s in Finance/Economics/Business/Islamic Finance preferred; relevant certifications a plus
