- ABOUT THE ROLE
- --------------
- operates a regulated payments and financial-crime program across multiple
- jurisdictions (Singapore - MAS, Malaysia - BNM, the Philippines - BSP, and the US
- under a sponsor-bank model). Our analysts make hundreds of KYB, periodic-review,
- and AML screening decisions every day. This role exists to make sure those
- decisions are consistently right, defensible, and aligned to policy in every
- market we operate in.
- As AML QA Lead, you own the independent quality-assurance function
- over our financial-crime operations. You review completed casework daily, catch
- where decisions drift from our SOPs and each jurisdiction's requirements, spot
- systemic issues before they become regulatory findings, and close the loop with
- analysts and leadership so quality actually improves - not just gets measured.
- This is a hands-on, player-coach role: you'll do the QA reviews yourself while
- setting the standard for how QA is run.
- WHAT YOU'LL DO
- --------------
- - Run daily QA reviews across the three core workstreams - KYB onboarding,
- periodic reviews, and AML screening-alert dispositions (name/sanctions/PEP/
- adverse-media) - sampling completed cases and scoring them against SOP and
- regulatory requirements.
- - Assess policy and jurisdictional adherence. Confirm each decision applied the
- correct CDD/EDD standard, risk rating, screening disposition rationale, and
- documentation for the specific market's rules (MAS/BNM/BSP/US sponsor-bank),
- not a one-size-fits-all check.
- - Proactively surface systemic issues - recurring analyst errors, SOP ambiguities,
- mis-calibrated screening thresholds, tooling gaps, or workflow breakdowns in our
- vendor stack (identity verification, screening, transaction monitoring) - and
- drive them to root cause rather than logging one-off defects.
- - Maintain a QA scorecard and defect taxonomy. Track error rates by workstream,
- analyst, market, and error type; report trends to Compliance leadership and the
- MLRO.
- - Close the feedback loop. Deliver clear, specific feedback to analysts and team
- leads, calibrate on disputed calls, and feed findings into SOP updates and
- training.
- - Support audit and regulatory readiness. Produce QA evidence and thematic
- findings for internal audit, external audit, sponsor-bank oversight, and
- regulator requests.
- - Improve the QA program itself - refine sampling methodology (risk-based vs.
- random), review checklists, and QA coverage as products, markets, and risk
- exposure change.
- WHAT YOU'LL OWN (SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE)
- ------------------------------------
- - A daily QA cadence with defined sampling coverage across KYB, PR, and screening.
- - A living QA scorecard and defect trend view that leadership relies on.
- - A measurable reduction in repeat errors and policy-adherence gaps over time.
- - Early detection of systemic/tooling issues - problems caught by QA, not by
- auditors or regulators.
- WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- ----------------
- - 4+ years in AML/financial-crime operations, with real hands-on experience in
- KYB/KYC, periodic review, and AML screening-alert investigation at a bank,
- payments company, or fintech.
- - Deep, working knowledge of CDD/EDD, sanctions/PEP/adverse-media screening, and
- risk-rating methodology - and the judgment to tell a well-reasoned decision from
- a superficially-complete one.
- - Fluency in reading and applying SOPs and regulatory requirements across
- jurisdictions, and comfort holding decisions to the correct market's standard.
- - A QA/QC, audit, controls-testing, or file-review background, or demonstrated
- rigor doing independent review of others' casework.
