We’re looking for a Chargeback and Fraud Monitoring Specialist to monitor payment activity, investigate potentially fraudulent transactions, manage chargeback cases, and help reduce financial and compliance risks across our payment operations.

Responsibilities
- Monitor transactions and payment activity for suspicious behaviour, unusual patterns, and potential fraud
- Review fraud alerts generated by PSPs, acquirers, fraud prevention tools, and internal monitoring systems
- Investigate potentially fraudulent transactions using customer profiles, payment history, device data, IP addresses, card usage, and behavioural patterns
- Identify fraud trends across traffic sources, markets, payment methods, BINs, issuers, and merchant accounts
- Review individual chargeback cases and determine whether they should be accepted or disputed
- Collect and prepare supporting evidence for chargeback representment, including transaction details, 3DS authentication results, customer communication, login history, terms acceptance, payment records, and service usage evidence
- Submit chargeback responses within deadlines established by card schemes, acquirers, and PSPs
- Monitor chargeback ratios, fraud-to-sales ratios, dispute rates, and other card-scheme risk indicators
- Track Mastercard and Visa monitoring thresholds and help prevent entry into fraud or chargeback monitoring programmes
- Investigate spikes in chargebacks or fraud and identify potential causes, including traffic quality, technical issues, misleading descriptors, recurring payment problems, and operational failures
- Support the implementation and optimisation of fraud prevention rules, transaction limits, velocity checks, blacklists, whitelists, and risk-scoring criteria
- Review existing fraud rules and recommend adjustments to reduce fraud without unnecessarily impacting approval and conversion rates
- Work closely with Payments, Risk, Compliance, Customer Support, Finance, Product, and Technical teams
- Communicate with PSPs, acquirers, fraud prevention providers, and other external partners regarding fraud alerts, chargebacks, evidence requirements, and risk recommendations
- Prepare regular reports on chargebacks, fraud levels, dispute outcomes, recovery rates, trends, and emerging risks
- Ensure investigations and dispute-handling activities follow internal procedures, card-scheme rules, regulatory requirements, and data-protection standards
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of fraud monitoring, chargeback handling, and payment risk procedures
Requirements
- Strong analytical and investigative skills
- Ability to identify suspicious payment patterns and investigate transaction-level activity
- Understanding of chargeback and dispute-handling processes
- Ability to work with large volumes of payment and risk data
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage time-sensitive cases
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with internal teams and external payment partners
- Ability to balance fraud prevention with payment approval and conversion performance
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume payment environment
