- 6-12 years in insurance - as an insurance regulatory lawyer (law firm insurance practice or in-house at an MGA, carrier, or insurtech) or a senior insurance executive with a legal background.
- You’ve worked directly with carriers and reinsurers and can negotiate capacity, binding authority, or program agreements yourself.
- Comfortable being the sole legal and insurance voice in an early-stage company: pragmatic, commercial, and fast.
- Bonus points: Lloyd’s market or coverholder experience · parametric or warranty/service-contract structures · Bermuda market familiarity · you’ve been through the “startup gets appointed by real carriers” journey at an insurtech.

We have just closed a $5.5M seed round to scale and domainate the AI liability insurance market? As we scale, we will grow into more carrier appointments and program partnerships.
- Own ’s legal and insurance strategy as we scale from a reinsurance-backed warranty into a carrier-appointed program. You will be the face of to reinsurers, carriers, and regulators — a founding executive, not a support function.
- Carrier & reinsurer relationships. Manage and grow our reinsurance partnership; originate and negotiate future capacity, fronting, and program arrangements; represent as a principal in the market.
- Regulatory strategy & product classification. Own our warranty-vs-insurance positioning across jurisdictions and keep our product structure defensible as we enter new markets and product lines.
- Licensing & compliance roadmap. Chart the path to the authorizations we’ll need as we grow.
- Outside counsel & contractors. Hire and manage specialist counsel for regulatory filings and jurisdiction-specific work; own the legal budget. Build the in-house team when the time is right.
- has a defensible, documented regulatory position in our core markets.
- Our capacity agreement is renewed and expanded, with at least one additional carrier or reinsurer relationship in progress.
