Outbound prospecting for healthcare financial operating system sales.

Responsibilities

  • Own outbound prospecting.
  • Use AI tools (Claude, etc.) to research accounts faster, personalize at scale, and multiply your output. This isn't a "nice to have," it's how we expect you to work.
  • Identify, research, and reach outpatient healthcare practices through cold calls, email sequences, and LinkedIn outreach.
  • Build and work cadences that reflect Joyful's ICP and messaging strategy.
  • Maintain high activity volume without sacrificing personalization.
  • Work our bottom-up channels (events, community, partnerships) to qualify inbound interest and set discovery calls.
  • Distinguish prospects who are "open to a conversation" from those with real, urgent pain.
  • Set and hand off meetings with qualified stakeholders
  • Book and transition high-quality discovery calls to an Account Executive with clear context and handoff notes.
  • Take ownership of show rate and meeting quality, not just volume.
  • Maintain CRM hygiene - keep HubSpot updated and accurate so the team has real visibility into pipeline and activity.
  • Log every touchpoint and outcome. Use data to self-correct.
  • Share market intelligence.
  • Surface patterns from prospect conversations that help refine ICP, messaging, and positioning.
  • Build healthcare expertise
  • Learn the RCM and billing landscape so you can speak credibly with practice administrators, revenue cycle managers, and CFOs.
  • Understand the economics of how practices get paid and where revenue slips through the cracks.

  • We're looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR) to own our outbound prospecting motion at Joyful Health. As our Founding BDR, you'll be the tip of the spear for pipeline creation, reaching outpatient healthcare practices across the country and setting qualified meetings for our sales team.
  • This is a high-impact role for someone early in their sales career who is hungry, coachable, and genuinely excited about the healthcare space. You'll develop deep expertise in RCM and healthcare finance while helping build the outbound playbook that fuels our next phase of growth.
  • This role is full-time. We are looking for someone NYC-based who can be in the office 3 days per week.
  • You want to solve real problems for healthcare providers and are motivated by fixing the broken systems in healthcare.
  • You have 1-2+ years of sales or BDR/SDR experience in a high growth startup environment
  • Track record of consistent outbound activity: cold calls, email sequences, and multi-touch cadences.
  • Experience working with a CRM and advanced tech stack (HubSpot preferred). You log things because it's useful, not because it's required.
  • Bonus: any exposure to healthcare, RCM, medical billing, or health-tech sales.
  • You research accounts before reaching out. Generic blasts aren't your style.
  • You write personalized messaging that reflects the buyer's world, not a template.
  • You're comfortable making a high volume of cold calls without letting quality slip.
  • You understand activity-to-meeting math and hold yourself accountable to it.
  • You take feedback and implement it in the next call, not next week.
  • You're genuinely curious about the healthcare problem space and want to develop expertise.
  • You're thinking about a long-term sales career and want to grow into a closing role.
  • You're comfortable building the playbook and infrastructure while running it.
  • You don't need a structured BDR program to hit your numbers.
