Staff Backend Engineer responsible for designing, building, and operating core backend systems for a high-volume memecoin launchpad.

About the company

  • Baton Corporation is the development company that builds and operates the entire technology stack behind pump.fun , the largest memecoin launchpad in production today.
  • ~$1B daily volume. Low latency, high throughput, constant load.

Requirements

  • Have built and operated distributed systems at scale multiple times
  • Strong experience in Rust, Go, or TypeScript
  • Deep knowledge of databases and data modelling, including tradeoffs around consistency, performance, and reliability
  • Known for solving problems others couldn’t
  • High-agency and ownership-driven, able to take ambiguous problems and drive them to concrete outcomes without waiting for direction
  • Crypto experience is a plus, but not required

Conditions

  • Unmatched ownership and autonomy
  • Exposure to systems operating at the edge of crypto scale
  • The ability to ship fast and see real-world impact immediately
  • If you’re motivated by responsibility, speed, and building products used by massive audiences, you’ll feel at home here.

Other

  • Own the hardest backend problems across the system, from performance bottlenecks and scaling limits to correctness and reliability under load
  • Set technical direction for core backend systems, making principled architectural decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
  • Design, build, and operate distributed services that run in production and are relied on daily
  • Identify systemic issues early and drive them to resolution, even when the problems are ambiguous or cross-cutting
  • Raise the bar for backend engineering by mentoring peers, reviewing designs and code, and modelling strong engineering judgment
  • We work in person
  • Hours can be long and unconventional
  • The pace is intense
  • Expectations are high, and impact is immediate
  • Working at Baton is not for everyone
