Lead product marketing efforts, develop core product narrative, and scale the product marketing team at Numeric.
Responsibilities
- Own the core positioning and primary narrative for our broader product story.
- Get deep into a technical product and a complex market to uncover what messaging resonates across personas and companies.
- Set the quality bar for the function: world-class editing, feedback, and coaching along with leading by example with your own strong deliverables.
- Build and own the product marketing roadmap: what work needs to happen, by whom, by when, and at what quality.
- Build the working rhythms that connect marketing to sales, partnerships, and product. You’ll spot collateral gaps and strengthen positioning across the funnel.
- Hire and grow the team. You'll define the shape of talent we need and evaluate for it rigorously.
- Form a clear point of view on what product marketing should be as AI reshapes the discipline and help ensure product marketing at Numeric remains on the edge of what’s possible.
- This is a damn impactful job. Our team believes strongly that as the rate of code shipped increases, product marketing becomes even more critical for companies to nail. Having a clear story, understanding how to mobilize for a launch when product improvements are coming at light speed, and doing so in a time where AI is radically shift how work can be done - you’ve got a lot of great work cut out for you here.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience, with 5+ years in product marketing.
- You've operated as the only PMM or led the function—you've defined what to work on , not just executed against someone else's plan.
- You're an exceptional storyteller who can build high-level narratives and communicate complex ideas with precision and concision.
- You’re differentiated in how well you differentiate 😃. The idea of shaping a clear story in a field of related players is exactly in your strike zone.
- You've marketed a technical B2B product (not purely consumer).
- You're a strong editor and coach who raises the quality of everyone around you.
- You bring empathy for sellers— sales reps love & see a real partner in you.
Nice to have
- You’ve worked in both smaller start-up settings (Series A / Seed) and seen scale firsthand (Series C+).
- Experience in accounting, finance, or fintech.
- A strong copywriting background.
Other
- Every business relies on accounting. Yet most software in the space was built in the early 2000s — clunky, slow, and far behind the curve on AI. Today, accountants are facing a growing, unsolved data problem as a consequence of complexity, data, and system fragmentation — and they lack the tools to solve it. The problems are real, hard, and increasingly urgent. But they're solvable. Enter Numeric — the modern financial data platform for accounting and finance.
- Weaving together data, workflows, and AI-first solutions, we're empowering accounting teams to achieve verifiable, detailed financial data faster and make business decisions with greater confidence. We have strong product market fit and a growing base of customers who love our product — including Anthropic, Plaid, Brex, Betterment, and many more. We're backed by top-tier investors including Menlo Ventures, IVP, Founders Fund, and 8VC, along with founders and executives from Ramp, Segment, and other category-defining companies.
- You'll be the first senior product marketing hire at Numeric and the owner of our core product narrative. You’ll act as our chief narrative creator, bar setter for the function, and a player coach that enjoys running at PMM deliverables as much as charting what work is most impactful to get done across the team.
- As Numeric grows, you’ll run with messaging for a set of product releases on the horizon, scale a team of PMMs, and define what great product marketing means in the age of AI.
- This role is in person in New York City or San Francisco (in office 5x/week).
- Brick by Brick: To win, our team needs to show up and execute in each domain every day.
- Love the Game: We focus on the craft and a deep sense of giving a f*ck. We're building a company full of people who are equally engaged and motivated.
- SALY: We refuse to accept "Same As Last Year." For too long, accounting and finance systems have reflected outdated processes instead of reimagining what's possible. We're driven by a first-principles approach to building better solutions.
- Own the Outcome: We own our results. We typically hire builders and give them large mandates with high-trust. Engineers are responsible not just for code, but for ensuring the product is solving the end problems of the users.
- Earn the right: We're impatient to deliver results. We relentlessly iterate, measure, and improve. Every day is an opportunity to beat our prior best, raising the bar for the value we deliver to customers. E Pluribus Unum-eric.
