Mechanical Technician responsible for mechanical design, fabrication, system integration, and prototyping in a startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and build mechanical components and assemblies from concept to prototype
- Create, modify, and maintain mechanical drawings and documentation
- Fabricate parts using shop tools, machining, and rapid prototyping methods
- Work with and integrate basic electronics and electromechanical systems
- Troubleshoot and iterate on prototypes quickly
- Juggle multiple projects and shifting priorities in a startup setting
- Develop creative, practical solutions to open-ended technical problems
- Communicate clearly with engineers, founders, and teammates
- Document designs, changes, and build processes so others can follow
Requirements
- Experience as a mechanical technician or similar hands-on role
- Strong mechanical design and drawing skills
- Demonstrated hands-on fabrication and build experience, including minor machining, soldering, working with pressure systems, and performing equipment maintenance
- Working knowledge of electronics and system integration
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats and switching tasks as needed
- Strong problem-solving mindset — you figure things out and make them better
- Clear communicator who values good documentation
Nice to have
- CAD experience (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Experience with prototyping, R&D, or custom hardware

- The base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $110,000; The pay range provided is an estimated base range for this role. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and education.
