Maintain and repair deployed technical defense systems in the field to ensure operational readiness.
About the company
- Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following the close of a $200M Series B, valuing the company at $1.4 billion, we are expanding our teams and capabilities to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces.
- Our work is guided by clear values: building technologies with real-world impact, pursuing excellence in everything we do, setting ambitious goals, and taking on the hardest technical challenges. We operate in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and execution are expected.
Responsibilities
- As Field Service Specialist, you keep the organisation's deployed technical systems operational in the field. You perform preventive and corrective maintenance, on-site diagnostics, and repairs at customer sites — and support customer operators toward day-to-day autonomy. This is a hands-on, field-based maintenance and sustainment role, distinct from system design or installation: you are a maintainer, focused on equipment uptime and performance.
- The team includes both first-level maintenance specialists and at least one senior, depot-repair-capable specialist able to handle component and sub-assembly-level repair. We are hiring across this seniority range.
- Preventive Maintenance: Carry out scheduled checks and servicing to maintain equipment at peak operational readiness.
- Corrective Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose faults and perform repairs on hardware and system components; replace consumables and serviceable parts; return systems to service.
- First-Level Diagnostics: Identify and resolve common issues on-site; escalate more complex faults through the defined support path.
- Depot-Level Repair (senior profile): Perform deeper component and sub-assembly-level repair and standard exchange at the supporting repair facility.
- Spares & Sustainment: Manage and track the spare-parts pool; monitor consumption and feed reliability and failure-trend data back to support and engineering teams.
- Operator Enablement: Support customer operators on-site and contribute to building their autonomy in routine operation and first-level maintenance.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date maintenance records and structured field reports.
Requirements
- Hands-on technical maintenance experience on complex electromechanical and/or electronic systems.
- Practical skills in fault diagnosis, repair, component replacement, and return-to-service procedures.
- Comfortable operating across both hardware servicing and basic software/system operations — running diagnostics, configuration checks, applying updates under guidance.
- Ability to read technical documentation, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
- Field temperament: autonomous in remote environments, procedurally rigorous, strong safety mindset in professional and safety-critical operational settings.
- Comfortable with regular travel to customer sites — field mobility is core to this role.
- Ability to meet professional standards and confidentiality obligations required.
- Proficiency in English mandatory; French and Arabic are a plus.
Nice to have
- Technical systems or specialised equipment maintenance experience.
- Electronics or board/sub-assembly-level repair skills (particularly relevant for senior, depot-capable profile).
- Prior technical maintenance or field service background in complex environments.
- Experience supporting and training end-users on complex systems.
- We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Harmattan AI.
