  • About the role:
  • Tempo is looking for a Vice President of Engineering - Artificial Intelligence to define and lead our AI vision across products and platform. This role will be responsible for turning AI into a core competitive advantage, shaping how customers plan, predict, and optimize work.
  • You will operate at the intersection of product strategy, engineering execution, and business impact. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will set direction, build high-performing teams, and deliver AI-powered capabilities that are deeply embedded in Tempo’s product suite.
  • A key mandate of this role is to establish Tempo’s long-term AI capability by defining strategy, building a strong in-house team, and ensuring tight alignment with product priorities.
  • Define and own Tempo’s company-wide AI strategy aligned to business goals and product roadmap
  • Identify high-impact use cases across planning, forecasting, resource management, and productivity
  • Translate emerging AI capabilities into clear product and platform opportunities
  • Act as a thought partner to executive leadership on AI investments and priorities
  • Partner closely with Product leadership to define and execute the AI roadmap across Tempo’s product suite
  • Drive development of intelligent features such as predictive insights, recommendations, and automation
  • Establish a scalable AI platform layer that supports multiple products and use cases
  • Ensure AI capabilities are practical, usable, and deliver measurable customer value
  • Build and lead a high-performing team across GenAI, Agents, machine learning, data science, and applied AI engineering
  • Define operating model, hiring strategy, and capability roadmap for AI at Tempo
  • Foster strong collaboration across Product, Engineering, Design, and Data teams
  • Elevate AI literacy across the organization
  • Partner with Data and Platform teams to ensure strong foundations for AI development
  • Drive strategy for data quality, governance, and model lifecycle management
  • Ensure scalable, secure, and cost-effective AI infrastructure
  • Establish best practices for ethical, secure, and compliant use of AI
  • Ensure customer trust through transparency, privacy, and responsible model usage
  • Stay ahead of regulatory and industry developments related to AI
  • Represent Tempo as an AI leader in the Atlassian ecosystem and broader SaaS space
  • Engage with customers, partners, and industry communities
  • Bring external perspective on trends, tools, and competitive landscape
  • Hands on Experience in implementing GenAI and ML in software solutions
  • Proven leadership experience building and scaling AI or data-driven product capabilities
  • Track record of shipping AI-powered features in SaaS or enterprise products
  • Experience operating at senior leadership level
  • Strong understanding of modern AI/ML approaches, including LLMs and applied AI systems
  • Ability to bridge technical depth with product thinking and business outcomes
  • Experience with data platforms, experimentation, and model deployment at scale
  • Strong executive presence with ability to influence across Product, Engineering, and GTM teams
  • Experience building teams and attracting top AI talent
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and drive clarity at scale
