Engineer responsible for building and maintaining RF system calibration and test infrastructure for production environments.
About the company
- At Quartermaster AI, we believe the ocean should be a safe and sustainably managed resource for all. By leveraging cutting-edge AI and robotics, we unlock capabilities that were only recently impossible. Our distributed open-ocean systems enable every vessel to sense, compute, and communicate, enhancing maritime domain awareness for those who need it most.
Responsibilities
- Establish a highly accurate, efficient, and repeatable RF system calibration capability by defining and implementing end-to-end calibration and test procedures, selecting equipment, and establishing an in-house or contracted lab facility.
- Design, build, and maintain test infrastructure at our DC-area office and future remote/vessel deployment sites.
- Develop and refine Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) for execution by technicians for low to medium volume production runs.
- Measure, validate, and document timing accuracy, latency, and phase coherence in RF systems.
- Lead calibration and characterization of system components, including GNSS hardware, antennas, and more.
- Maintain calibration and traceability records, test data packages, and qualification documentation to support internal quality processes and customer/program requirements.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on RF testbench experience in a production or advanced development environment.
- High level of proficiency with RF test equipment including VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, channel emulators, power meters, and associated calibration standards.
- Demonstrated experience building or managing a calibration program.
- Experience writing, owning, and executing Acceptance Test Procedures for production hardware.
- Strong working knowledge of RF system performance parameters: gain, noise figure, IIP3, phase noise, VSWR, spurious emissions.
- Hands-on experience with GPS-disciplined oscillators or other precision timing references.
- US citizenship required.
Nice to have
- Background in sensing systems, maritime hardware, or defense RF systems
- Familiarity with SDR platforms
Other
- Quartermaster AI is seeking an experienced Radiofrequency (RF) system Test, Calibration, and Production engineer with deep technical and hands-on experience working with high performance productized radio systems.
- You will build from scratch Quartermaster’s antenna and radio system calibration capability, stand up test infrastructure at our headquarters and remote sites, and feed design-for-test requirements back into hardware development. You know what a production RF test lab needs, what it costs, and what breaks at scale.
- Flexible working hours with occasional deadlines requiring high availability.
- Opportunity to work on innovative projects with a global impact.
