CD PROJEKT RED is hiring a Lead Technical Artist for Project Hadar, focusing on defining technical art vision and tool development in Unreal Engine 5.

  • CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Lead Technical Artist to join the team working on Project Hadar, the studio’s first original IP and video game.

About the product

  • Project Hadar is CD PROJEKT RED’s first original IP and video game.
  • The role focuses on achieving high visual fidelity and strong performance in Unreal Engine 5.
  • Work on a story-driven RPG with high visual and technical ambitions.

Responsibilities

  • Prototype, research, and integrate new features in Unreal Engine 5.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide technical artists.
  • Develop tools and features that support artistic goals.
  • Support talent acquisition, performance evaluation, professional development, and team engagement.
  • Ensure high-quality asset integration while maintaining performance and memory efficiency.
  • Define best practices for asset pipelines and technical art.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with art directors, engineers, and designers.
  • Identify and resolve production pipeline bottlenecks.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role in a creative environment.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a technical art role.
  • Strong leadership experience with mentoring technical artists.
  • Excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine 5.
  • Excellent shader development skills.
  • Strong understanding of DCC workflows.
  • Experience creating tools and automation with Python or C++.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Ability to take ownership, set goals, share knowledge, and drive initiatives independently.
  • Strong cross-discipline communication skills.
  • Fluent English.

Nice to have

  • Experience with procedural content creation using Houdini, Unreal PCG, Geometry Script, or Blender Geometry Nodes.
  • Experience with real-time scalable VFX using Niagara or EmberGen.
  • Knowledge of animation pipelines.
  • Experience with scripting for Maya, MotionBuilder, Unreal Animation Blueprints, or Sequencer.
