EPAM Systems is looking for a Lead UI Engineer to deliver production-ready UI systems for a AAA fighting game built in Unreal Engine 5, focusing on frontend, engagement, and gameplay UI.

Responsibilities
- Implement UI features and systems in Unreal Engine 5 using CommonUI, UMG, and Slate
- Build reusable UI components, widgets, input patterns, and interaction systems
- Translate UX flows, prototypes, and visual designs into shippable in-engine UI
- Deliver frontend UI and in-match gameplay UI
- Create 2D UI and 3D-anchored 2D-rendered UI
- Create UI animations, transitions, and effects using UMG, Sequencer, Blueprints, and materials
- Optimize UI performance, responsiveness, memory usage, loading behavior, and input handling
- Integrate UI with gameplay systems, backend-facing services, progression systems, engagement systems, and publishing workflows
- Coordinate with sound and VFX teams to deliver polished UI feedback
- Run technical reviews, debugging, profiling, and documentation
- Support seasonal updates, live operations, and post-release UI maintenance
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience building UI in Unreal Engine
- At least 1 year of leadership experience
- Strong collaboration skills with UX, UI Art, UI Tech Design, gameplay, sound, VFX, and publishing teams
- Production experience delivering UI systems from pre-production to production
- Strong Unreal Engine 5 CommonUI, UMG, and Slate skills
- Strong Unreal Engine C++ skills for UI implementation and integration
- Solid Blueprint-based UI workflow knowledge
- Experience with designer-facing implementation patterns
- Strong knowledge of responsive UI and input abstraction
- Experience with controller support, touch input, and multi-platform behavior
- Proven UI performance optimization skills for real-time applications
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in complex game UI environments
- Excellent written and spoken English at B2+ level
Nice to have
- Experience with AAA, live-service, multiplayer, fighting, action, or competitive games
- Experience with mobile-first game UI
- Experience supporting seasonal content updates or live publishing pipelines
- Familiarity with Figma and HTML prototypes
- Experience integrating UI animation, materials, sound cues, and VFX-style feedback
- Experience using approved AI-assisted development tools in professional production
