Conduct independent and collaborative theoretical research to advance quantum information sciences, focusing on fault-tolerant quantum computing, quantum cryptography, and related fields.

Requirements

  • Must have PhD before commencing the role.
  • Proven experience of theoretical research in at least one of the fields of fault-tolerant quantum computing, quantum cryptography, quantum communication, quantum algorithms, or relevant fields, with publication record commensurate with experience.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication (proficiency in Japanese is not mandatory).
  • Ability to work cohesively in an interdisciplinary team and adjust to a rapidly evolving environment.

  • Undertake both independent and collaborative research to develop and publish foundational and innovative theoretical framework to achieve a breakthrough in quantum information sciences.
  • Lead and develop collaborations with influential researchers, corporate or academic, in the fields of quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum cryptography, quantum sensing, and other emerging applications of quantum technologies.
  • Propose physical implementations and scalable architecture designs of the nanofiber cavity quantum electrodynamics (cQED), distributed neutral-atom quantum processors, and other quantum devices.
  • Track record of publications in reputable peer-reviewed academic journals.
  • Proficient programming skills for reproducible numerical simulations.
  • Basic knowledge or interest in qubit systems based on atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics, including ions, optics, cavity QED and neutral atoms.
  • Leading role in international and interdisciplinary collaborative research.
