Responsibilities

  • As an IT Systems Engineer , you’ll own and evolve the internal systems that power a fully remote, security-conscious technology company. You’ll be responsible for user and device management, endpoint security, SaaS tooling, access controls, and compliance support—while continuously improving reliability, automation, and employee experience.
  • This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building scalable internal systems, automating workflows with code, and partnering closely with engineering and security teams in a fast-moving startup environment.

Other

  • Own user lifecycle management across identity providers, devices, GitHub, and SaaS tools (onboarding, offboarding, role changes).
  • Manage and improve endpoint management for a fully remote workforce (macOS and Linux), including security posture, patching, and device compliance.
  • Administer identity, access management, and SSO systems (e.g., Okta or equivalent), following least-privilege principles.
  • Manage GitHub organization settings, access controls, repositories, and automation in partnership with engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain automation for IT workflows using code (e.g., provisioning, access reviews, audits).
  • Maintain and improve internal IT systems and tooling with a focus on reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
  • Partner with security and engineering teams to support compliance initiatives (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001), audits, and evidence collection.
  • Define and enforce device, access, and security policies while balancing usability and productivity.
  • Evaluate, deploy, and manage SaaS tools used across the company.
  • Lead IT initiatives from 0→1, including system rollouts, tooling migrations, and process improvements.
  • Document systems, workflows, and standards to reduce operational toil and improve clarity.
  • 3+ years of experience in IT systems engineering, IT operations, or a similar role in a modern tech company.
  • Good programming skills in Python or Go , with experience using code to automate systems and workflows.
  • Good experience with GitHub , including organization management, permissions, integrations, and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or GCP .
  • Strong experience with identity and access management, including SSO/IdP platforms (Okta or similar).
  • Experience managing endpoints (especially macOS) in a remote-first environment.
  • Familiarity with security best practices, device hardening, access controls, and audit readiness.
  • Experience supporting or maintaining compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
  • Comfort operating in an environment with evolving processes and minimal bureaucracy.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, ownership mindset, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for a fully remote team.
