zkFold is a startup developing zero-knowledge cryptography based blockchain scaling solutions, currently focused on a Haskell DSL for zero-knowledge smart contracts on Cardano.

About the company

  • zkFold is a startup company developing scaling solutions for blockchains based on zero-knowledge cryptography.

About the product

  • Our first product is a language (Haskell DSL) for zero-knowledge smart contracts called zkFold Symbolic.
  • In this DSL, blockchain application developers can create specifications (smart contracts) that their transactions must satisfy.
  • The specification code is then compiled into a format acceptable by zero-knowledge protocols.
  • Cryptographic proofs of smart contract satisfaction can then be verified “on-chain”, enabling truly complex smart contracts.
  • Currently, we focus on the Cardano blockchain as the main target for this product.
  • Examples of where this technology can find its use are: order batching for decentralized finance apps; efficient voting verification, i.e., verifying the whole voting procedure in one smart contract transaction; a trustless fiat-to-crypto P2P on-ramp (see our proposal for a Project Catalyst grant https://cardano.ideascale.com/c/idea/113390).
  • This product is open-source.
  • It is currently in the prototype phase.
  • The core library can be found here: https://github.com/zkFold/zkfold-base

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality code that adds features or otherwise improves our smart contract DSL.
  • Implement novel cryptographic algorithms or, where applicable, integrate the existing implementations into our codebase.
  • Build demos and example applications for this technology.
  • Document the project according to the best standards for open-source development.

  • Ability to write high-quality code, familiarity with best practices in functional programming
  • Strong math / computer science background

Nice to have

  • Good knowledge of Rust and C++
  • Experience in creating DSLs
  • Experience in developing cryptographic libraries
  • Experience in blockchain development

Conditions

  • Fully remote
  • Full-time
  • B2B (freelance) contract
  • Compensation will be based on qualifications and interview results.
