About the product
- We've spent the last two years rebuilding the platform from the ground up: new customer app, new Pro onboarding, job distribution engine, and data infrastructure.
- The foundation is solid.
- Now we're moving into expanded service verticals, dynamic pricing, and AI-powered features at scale.
- Our stack is PHP (Laravel) and React/React Native, with Cypress as our primary test framework.
- We actively use Claude Code as part of our engineering workflow, not as an experiment, but as a core part of how we work.
Responsibilities
- Own the automation coverage, shape the bug process, and partner closely with Product, Design, and the Data team to catch problems before they reach customers.
- Report to the Engineering Manager and be embedded across the engineering organization.
- Work directly with engineers, PMs, Designers, and the Data team to surface risks early, understand requirements deeply, and propose better solutions.
- Be embedded in one or two delivery teams.
- Own the strategy for building and expanding automated test coverage, not just executing test cases.
- Identify gaps in the quality process and have authority to fix them.
- Design and grow E2E and integration test suite using Cypress.
- Set strategy, prioritize coverage gaps, and raise quality floor across platform.
- Own the full bug process lifecycle from triage to production fix.
- Keep stakeholders informed and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Collaborate with PMs, Designers, and Data team to review requirements, raise risks early, and define "done."
- Identify weaknesses in software delivery and propose solutions.
- Perform exploratory testing on new features and existing flows on web and mobile across devices.
Requirements
- Use AI tools like Claude Code to write, maintain, and extend test code as a standard part of work.
- Comfortable with browser MCPs, agent workflows, and building scripts to automate QA tasks.
- Prefer automation-first approach over manual testing.
- Think like a user, focus on delivering quality beyond checkboxes.
- Adaptable to changing tools, stacks, and processes, especially with AI.
- Collaborative and direct communication across Product, Design, Engineering, and Operations.
- Technically solid with ability to read/write code, understand front and backend web services, write SQL queries, and debug across stack.
- Not a manual-testing role or ticket-executor role.
- Expect to shape work priorities, not just execute backlog.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid business changes.
- Expected to influence quality process upstream, not just verify finished work.
Conditions
- Base salary: $45-$65k
